French retailing giant Carrefour has decided to promote products under its own brand in China, sources with the company said.
The sources said that the products under Carrefour brand, including foods, daily necessities and clothes, will be only sold in Carrefour hypermarkets in China.
The new products, designed, produced and sold by Carrefour, will be 20 percent cheaper than counterparts of other brands in its stores, they said.
The company will carefully watch the procedure from production to sale, it added.
Carrefour first promoted its own brand products in France in 1985 and then in other European countries and South America.
The company opened its 44th hypermarket in China in March this year and the first Champion supermarket in April in Beijing.
