Israel, Heilongjiang seek agricultural cooperation
font size

Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said here Friday agricultural cooperation between Israel and northeast China's Heilongjiang Province would benefit both sides.

Leading a visiting business delegation to a Israel-Heilongjiangcooperation forum held here, Olmert said such cooperation would not only be based on the two places' friendship in the history, but cooperation and development in the future.

Heilongjiang Governor Zhang Zuoji expressed his hope to join hands with Israeli experts in the development of animal husbandry, agricultural industrialization and water-saving agriculture.

Heilongjiang would offer Israeli business people good opportunities as an agricultural giant and leading grain base in China, as well as a beneficiary in the country's massive "revitalizing the northeast" campaign, Zhang said.

In 2003, the two places signed economic agreements involving pledged investment of nearly 30 million US dollars. Israel helped to train more than 400 farming experts in the same year.
