Duplicated classic sculptures on show

Beijing residents can view classical European sculpture close to home, as a Carrefour centre displays 87 duplications of classic sculptures from French museums.

Beijing residents can view classical European sculpture close to home, as the Carrefour centre in the upmarket Zhongguancun area displays 87 duplications of classic sculptures from French museums.

Opening its' doors today, the artworks on show include the Winged Victory of Samothrace and Venus de Milos. Both are very precious collection of Louvre Palace Museum in Paris.

Duplicates of sculptures from ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece and Middle Ages France, are all of same size as the original ones.

The exhibition will go to other cities in China after the Beijing show as part of the French Culture Year celebration in China.
