The remaining bodies of foreign tsunami victims in Thailand will be sent home within three months,Thai Public Ministry has said.
Some 3,194 victim bodies still remain unidentified including both Thai and foreigners, the ministry's permanent secretary Vichai Thiantawor was quoted by Bangkok Post newspaper as saying on Friday.
Foreign doctors and volunteers are continuing to care for 10,000 wave victim bodies which have been stored at 27 temporary shelters.
About 30 foreign corpses and three Thai were being identified every day, said Vichai, adding no epidemic occurred in the kingdom's six southern provinces hit by last year's killer waves.
According to the latest government figures, the Dec. 26 tsunamihas caused 5,392 deaths, 13,139 injuries and 3,100 missing.
More than 500 health personnel and specialists from around the world will gather in Phuket in May to exchange information and hold discussions on medical and health aspects of the disaster, said Minister Sudarat Keyuraphan.
