The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Monday accused South Korea of " infiltrating" the DPRK's waters of the West Sea of Korea (Yellow Sea) with a warship to "deliberately strain the situation" between the two countries.
"The South Korean military authorities infiltrated a warship into the waters of the north side south of Kuwol Hill from around 11:35 to around 12:05 Monday," the DPRK's navy said in a press release.
"They committed similar military provocations seven times on April 15 and four times on April 16," the press release said.
In the release, the navy called the south's move a blatant challenge to the sincere efforts of the north side to defuse the military tensions between the DPRK and South Korea. It urged the south to abandon "their reckless provocation," warning of " unpredictable consequences."
The official Korean Central News Agency said this is the eighth time the DPRK has accused South Korea of "infiltrating" the north's waters.
