Microsoft steps up move in C. China

US software giant Microsoft reached an agreement with the Hunan provincial government on Wednesday to build a technological center in the central China Province.

Pursuant to the memorandum signed on Wednesday in the provincial capital city of Changsha, Microsoft will team up with local software developers such as Powerise to provide solutions to corporate clients.

The center is also expected to conduct research and provide services in terms of technological innovation and staff training, said Tim Chen, Microsoft vice-president and chief executive officer of Microsoft China, here on Wednesday.

Powerise became Microsoft's second China-based global strategic partner in 2004. The pair has already been cooperating in fields such as training and certification, software development, sales and marketing, and various international projects.

Microsoft will help the Chinese company further improve software developing capabilities and marketing techniques, said Chen.
