font size

Hong Kong Baptist University received on Friday a donation of 5 million HK dollars (about 641, 000 US dollars) from Lee Shau Kee Foundation.

Chairman of the foundation Lee Shau Kee said that higher education is vital to the society's continuous development.

He said he was glad that his donation will contribute to nurturing young talents and further enhancing quality education.

President of the university Professor Ng Ching Fai said the donation was made in recognition of the university's dedication to higher education.

A certain amount of the donation will be used for the development of the university's newly established Academy of Visual Arts, Ng said.

Lee Shau Kee has twice been awarded honorary doctorates in recognition of his strong support for education, as well as his outstanding achievements and his distinguished contributions to the community.
