The 4th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) for Directors General on Management of Migratory flows between Europe and Asia will be held in Bali resort island on Dec. 6-7, an Indonesian minister announced on Monday.
"Some preparations are now in progress to assure the smooth organization of the meeting, and 'Management of Migratory Flows' has been selected theme of the meeting," Minister of Justice and Human Rights Hamid Awaluddin said at a press conference.
The meeting serves as an important forum for ASEM partners to exchange diverse and invaluable knowledge, experience and views on current trend of management of migratory flows as to follow up the results of the 3rd meeting, a press release issued by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights said.
Such meeting is also expected to enhance concerted efforts and cooperation in responding to the changing globalized world that provides challenges and opportunities especially in the area of migratory flows, it added.
Hamid Awaluddin disclosed that a number of substantive matters will be discussed comprehensively amongst the ASEM partners, including follow-up action of the implementation of the 3rd meeting; immigration information sharing; cooperation in enhancing border control management and cooperation in migratory management.
The meeting is expected to be attended by 39 countries of ASEM partners, including the European Commission.
The first ASEM meeting on international migratory management was held in Denmark, the second meeting in China and the third in The Hague.
