South China province reports increases in rural, urban residents' income

Per capita disposable income of urban residents in Guangdong Province, south China, totaled 14,770 yuan (about 1,830 U.S. dollars) last year, a rise of 51.3 percent from the level in 2000, latest information from the provincial statistical bureau said.

The per capita net income of rural residents in the province was 4,690.5 yuan (582 U.S. dollars) last year, a rise of 28.3 percent from that of 2000, said the sources.

In the meantime, deposit savings by urban and rural residents climbed to 2.03 trillion yuan ((252 billion U.S. dollars), 1.34 times the figure for the year 2000.
