Urban residents in China's capital Beijing spent 30.1 percent less on housing in 2005 compared to 2004, and they've seen their disposable incomes rise by 12.9 percent, according to the Beijing Municipal Statistics Bureau.

According to the bureau's latest statistics, urban Beijingers spent an average of 1,105 yuan (about 136.4 U.S. dollars) on housing per year. Their average annual disposable income was 17,653 yuan (about 2,179.4 U.S. dollars).

The statistics also show Beijingers last year spent about ten percent less on interior decorations than they did in 2004.
